News is pivotal to all ages, from the young to the old, and feedback from a detailed research from
five respected members of Glyn staff portrayed the fact that more was needed to be done to allow
the younger generation to access the current news. A series of detailed researches voiced the
opinion of many staff, and it also demonstrated that 40% did not actually know what BBC Newsday
is.
On Thursday 16th March, we found that a common opinion of modern teachers is that more needs to
be done nationally to improve the knowledge of the news for the younger generation, with Miss.
Hardy telling us that ‘news helps us understand what is occurring in the world’- another repeated
statement is that news is very important to everybody; this was echoed through assistant head
teacher Mr Batchelor, who believes that news’ bring us together economically and socially.’ It was
also reported he listens to the news up to twenty times a day. This is a statistic that all budding
journalists and any member of the public should look up to- this is why BBC Newsday is so
influential. It allows budding journalist to find their inner writer by joining literacy forces nationally
to write an abundance of articles for the BBC. It is true to say that news can change and impact lives.
Additionally, Mr Churchill quoted’ we need to play news daily in form and even create an app
because it is so important.’
Overall, it is clear to say that news is incredibly important. It can change lives through its power,
whilst the opinion so of respected staff have been constantly echoed that more needs to done done
nationally to improve the younger generation’s knowledge of the news.
