Space Race 2

This year marked the 40th anniversary since Spielberg’s film: “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”

came out. The film is about a man called Roy Neary whose

life changes when he sees a UFO. This got

me thinking. Ordinary people never really come in to contact with anything space related without

years of astronaut training. Until the turn of the year when SpaceX announced they were sending to “space tourists” on a lunar trail due to return in 2018.

Space Tourists:

In recent years, technology has grown massively helping things like space travel be possible. But up until now, only scientists have gone to space to research. But a new era was marked when the first space tourists were revealed.

We don’t know who the people are, however, we know they paid to be involved in a space mission to the moon. Rumour has it that these people could be travelling as early as next year! It will be the first time in 45 years a lunar mission with humans has been launched. The journey should take them about a week travelling 300,000 to 400,000 miles in space and it will be the furthest humans have ever been into space.

It is incredible that this has been allowed to happen as normally astronauts require years of training.
